My name is Kathryn. Not Catherine. Not Katherine. Kathryn.
I am in my late twenties. I like movies, sports, music, reading and my lovable, but completely crazy family. I like to research and shop online, but I like to buy things in person, when I can. I can't explain it. I need to see it and feel before I spend money on it. I don't like reading books from iPads or Kindles. I'll do it, but I like the feel of a book. An actual book. It's crazy, I know.
I am married to a wonderful man, whom I met in college at the SINGLE GREATEST UNIVERSITY EVER, which would, of course, be Mississippi State University. I am bilingual (Spanish is my second language), I was born and raised in the South. I say ya'll and ain't. I am not OCD, I just think things should be done a certain way. My way.
I have two older sisters who are both beautiful, strong women and wonderful mothers. I have a very smart older brother who is a total butthead (isn't that what brothers are supposed to be?), but he's our butthead, so we love him anyway. I have five adorable nephews who are all destined for great things, I am sure. I have two wonderful brothers-in-law, one that is married to my sister and has been in my family so long I can't really remember when he wasn't around. In my world, he is as much a part of my family as I am. My other brother-in-law is my husband's younger brother. He played college football. He's a younger brother, not a little brother.
My dad is strong, intelligent, determined, and a bottomless pit of useless information. That last trait he passed down to me. I bear it with honor.
My step-mother the hardest working person I have ever met. She has an inner strength that is inspiring. She also has a short temper, and as Mr. Kennedy said of Scarlett in Gone With the Wind, "She can get mad quicker than any woman I ever saw." I love her.
I have a son. My heart breaks every time he cries and I love him so much it hurts. Every smile is a gift. Being a mom is the best job I never knew I always wanted.
My husband is a wonderful man whose most annoying trait is that he has a metabolism that rivals the speed of light. His weight has fluctuated MAYBE 15 lbs since Freshman year of college. I love him, but c'mon. That's just not fair.
I have an adorable dog, a Boxer named Major. He is a rescue and he stole my heart the first moment I saw him. He's stubborn, and he sometimes runs into the front door head first, but he is very loving and very protective. He belongs here.
My mother-in-law is Paula Dean in the kitchen, and she quilts. These are not talents I have. I have to appreciate that in her. My Father-in-law is the kind of man who has never met a stranger and is always smiling and laughing.
I am blessed with glorious people in my life. Glorious, wonderful, crazy people. I love and appreciate them because I am just as crazy, so we go well together. We don't always get along, but we are human, and sometimes our crazy does clash. This is my family. This is where I come from. This is who I am. Love it, or hate it, I'm not changing it. You are welcome to come along for the ride.
